GE is making a big commitment in Saudi Arabia, where it celebrated the grand opening of the GE Energy Manufacturing Technology Center. The facility will create 2,000 new jobs, supporting goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2020, the Kingdom’s plan for economic development over the next decade.

With less than a month to go to the opening of the GE Energy Manufacturing Technology Center, employees of GE in the Kingdom are looking forward to the educational and hands-on training prospects that the facility will offer. The Center further expands GE’s local job creation and training commitment to Saudi Arabia and is the largest GE turbine repair center of its kind in the world, which will enhance local Saudi repair and service capabilities. The facility is also designed to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2020 of expanding its manufacturing and export sectors. Additionally, a US$20 million training center hosted within the facility will offer the latest technology and managerial courses for talented Saudi nationals.

Further expanding its local training commitment to Saudi Arabia GE announced the graduation of the first class of a joint program between GE and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC). The GE Joint Technical Program (GE JTP) is designed to enhance Saudi technical skills in key areas of maintenance and repair of gas turbines, electrical motors and generators. The graduation ceremony was attended by officials from TVTC and GE as well as representatives from leading Saudi energy companies.
