Elyse Allan, CEO and President of GE Canada, started at GE Canada in 1984, moved to Ontario Hydro as a senior executive and then became CEO and president of the Toronto Board of Trade. She returned to GE Canada in 2004 to take her current position and she is also a vice-president of parent company GE. Allan is a strong advocate for advancing Canada’s science and technology base and competitive fi scal policy, and sits on various boards, including the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, C.D. Howe Institute, Royal Ontario Museum and Canadian Chamber of Commerce, where she is past chair.

$50-million aircraft engine research centre to be built in Winnipeg

Winnipeg’s Standard Aero is teaming up with GE Canada to build a multi-million dollar aircraft engine research and technology development centre near the airport, creating dozens of jobs.

Winnipeg’s Standard Aero announced it’s teaming up with GE Canada to build a $50-million aircraft engine research and technology development centre on land leased from the Winnipeg Airport Authority.
