This list is the result of an annual reader survey mailed to randomly selected readers of Woman Engineer magazine. GE ranked #1.

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is honoring GE for its commitment to veterans in New York’s Capital Region. Global Research in Niskayuna and GE Energy in Schenectady were recently recognized with the ‘Patriotic Employer’ award for their ongoing effort to support employees who serve in the Armed Forces.

A tenth annual survey by US Black Engineer & Information Technology (USBE&IT) magazine has revealed the corporate and government organizations that are considered most supportive of the nation’s historically Black engineering schools. Participants in the “Top Supporter” survey were the deans of the 14 ABET-accredited, historically Black college and university (HBCU) engineering programs, and the corporate-academic alliance, Advancing Minorities’ Interest in Engineering (AMIE). The survey asked the deans to list the ten corporate and ten government or non-profit organizations that provide the most support to their schools.

According to a recent report by the Great Places to Work Institute, UAE (GPTW UAE), GE is the number one company this year 2012, with the company’s Women’s Affinity Group bolstering its fair work environment policies. As for the top companies for Emiratis in 2012, GPTW UAE lists GE again as the top employer, having developed strong relationships with universities to build a steady talent pipeline and to offer leadership development programmes.
