Hiring Our Heroes #Military #Job Fair

The tough economy is enough to stand in the way of veterans finding jobs. Lacking the skills to land a job can set a veteran back even further. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes military job fair included 60 vendors and a resume writing workshop allowing veterans to be one step closer to having the interviewing skills to land a civilian job and build a career. Video Correspondent Amanda King has the story.
GE’s transition assistance workshop and one-on-one mentoring sessions featuring GE’s veteran employees will focus on resume building and writing, as well as interviewing techniques. These seminars are designed to help military personnel successfully communicate the skills they learned in the military to the corporate world. For a list of workshops near you see our GE & the Military page.

I am seeking an opportunity to put the skills that I have learned in my thirty years of military service on Active Duty and in Reserve status in the Army, as well as my years working for a Member of Congress.
During my recent mobilization, I had a wide variety of responsibilities from being Chief of our Intelligence and Security Division coordinating with local law enforcement to develop plans to mitigate the risk to the installation posed by potential threats to being the Chief of Future Operations, planning for the flow of units onto our installation that maximized the use of our facilities reducing bottlenecks and increasing capacity. When there were shortfalls in facilities, I helped to design, developed cost estimate, sought funding, oversaw construction and budget expenditures as we built the new facility until project was complete. I have been involved in developing the force structure that our installation needed to continue to support operation as a mobilization site. I have also been involved in a selection board for contracts that concerned deployment of civilian personnel, whom are contractors and employees of a variety of federal agencies from Department of Agriculture to State Department, in response to incidents as varied as natural disasters to combat engagements overseas
Working for the Congressman, I worked with his constituents as they sought assistance with federal agencies as the sought help with military, veterans, and related agencies as they dealt with problems as varied as Small Business loans, healthcare, GI Bill, pay, burial benefits, and a variety of other Human Resource issues. I also worked with local VA facilities and military bases, especially as they sought to improve their organization or as increase demands for services stressed their budgets.

Even if you don’t have any position that you would consider hiring me for and least let me know so I can quite wasting my time applying.
