General Electric’s $800 million revitalization of Appliance Park continued with the announcement the company will add a second shift of 380 employees manufacturing “French door” style refrigerators with the freezer on the bottom. The announcement brings the number of workers employed on the new refrigerator line to 772, higher than the 600 GE announced in March when CEO Jeffrey Immelt visited the Buechel plant.
