Hi Cecli,
GE did pay almost $2.7 billion in cash income taxes in 2010 on a consolidated basis (almost 19% of pretax income from continuing operations) globally, including significant U.S. federal income tax payments. GE also paid in excess of $1 billion in payroll, state and local sales and use and property taxes. For more information please see http://www.gereports.com/more-on-ge-and-taxes/
Regarding GE and China, reports about GE moving its entire X-Ray Division to China are false — only 4 executives were moved. For more information please see http://www.gereports.com/ge-and-china-growing-market-overseas-more-jobs-at-home/
Thanks for the opportunity to clarify!
Your two GE Works ads (the jet engine and the CT scan workers) are beautiful. So many TV ads today play off embarrassment, misery, destruction. These ads are decent, kind, and moving, and many of my friends and family have mentioned how much they appreciate the tone and content. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you, we love them too!
I enjoyed your tv commercial about the proud employees who buil the GE locomotives. The thing that bothers me is that after it came through the moutains it was pulling a complete train of flatcars with containers that were probably filled with product from china.Buy American!
