GE Named Top 10 Company for Scholarships in 2010

GE ranked 7th of the top ten companies that fund education by the Student Loan Blog. GE participates in multiple scholarships through the GE Foundation, including LULAC, Girls Education in Africa, Junior Achievement, and International Education.
The LULAC – GE Scholarship program is run solely through the LULAC National Educational Services Centers’ (LNESC) national office. Qualified applicants are chosen through a very rigorous selection process by members of LNESC’s scholarship committee. Only those preparing to enter their sophomore year at an accredited institution and having declared majors in Business or Engineering are eligible.
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident and a minority student enrolled in full-time studies leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university in the U.S. and have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Selection is based upon academic performance, performance in business- or engineering-related subjects, likelihood of pursuing a career in business or engineering, writing ability, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. To see the latest list of last year’s winners, see the LNESC web site.
Girls Education in Africa provides support to organizations that work to improve access to and the quality of primary education for girls. The program aims to improve math and language skills, as well as educate students in life skills, hygiene and HIV/AIDS prevention. The Girls Education initiative helps to build stronger communities by leveraging relationships and learning from the Developing Health Globally™ program. Hi Blessy,
Sorry to hear about your situation. This blog does not oversee scholarships. Please visit the links in the article to find out more information about GE’s scholarships and how to apply.
Dear GE,
Is that sholarship is only for US citizens? or Can an international student gain it?
Thanks,
Mamyraim
Hi Mamyraim,
The scholarships differ depending on their focus. Girls Education in Africa, for example, is obviously for Africa.
Hope that helps!
