We take for granted that when we flip the switch, the lights will go on. But after a big storm — or a zombie pandemic — you might experience some power disruptions. GE recently unveiled new home generators that have reduced fire risk, so they can be placed closer to the actual dwelling. That may make generators less of an eyesore. And you don’t want to have to cross a lawn full of zombies to check on your power supply.
